WISEPlace is hosting open houses to support our community in better understanding homelessness and the ways we can work together to end it.

About this Event

Homelessness is a complex issue. As a community, many of us have questions about why people become homeless, how homelessness affects community resources, and what we can do to help people get off the streets.

• How do these women end up on the street?

• Do they have family and friends to help them?

• How do they find their way to WISEPlace?

• How does WISEPlace help them find jobs?

• How can we help people stay off the streets long-term?

Dr David A. Snow, Distinguished Professor, UCI, will lead the discussion. Dr. Snow is the author or co-author of over 100 articles and 10 books on socioeconomic marginality with an emphasis on homelessness and poverty; social protest and movements; social psychology focusing on changes in cognitive orientation; and qualitative research methods.

The learning session will be followed by a tour of the transitional and emergency housing solutions at WISEPlace. It will also preview the capital project to create permanent supportive housing at WISEPlace.
