Why do health disparities persist? How can we address them at their roots?
Structural Competency is the capacity to recognize and respond to health outcomes as the downstream effect of social, political, and economic structures. We invite health professionals, scholars, students, community organizers, and anyone interested in health for all to gain perspectives and skills on advocacy at the bedside and beyond.
CONFERENCE DETAILS:
This conference brings together national experts, community organizers, health professionals, public policy professionals, and students to contribute to today's immigrant movements. We hope to strengthen our network and connect our community to the larger network supporting migrants and refugees against odds. This year will be the second UCR Conference on Structural Competency, and will be focused on uplifting immigrants rights and dignity - within healthcare, law, public policy, and community building. Workshops will be led by the Bay Area Structural Competency Working Group, Training Occupational Development Educating Communities (TODEC) Legal Center, and Inland Coalition for Immigrant Justice (ICIJ).
